23 x 23

I highly doubt I will cut this one again. The image by C. Dearing is stunning but exhausting to cut. I am glad I did it but there are other challenges out there for me.
PAB November 2021
Dramatically set in black, this maple veneer tiger pauses, drinking, looking at you with a reflection in the water.
The challenge with this piece is the sheer number of cuts. Every void you see in the image is hand drilled, then a thin blade inserted and cut with my scroll saw. The shape of the opening is determined by how I rotate the 12 x 12 board, turning it, and guiding it through the saw. This piece has over 200 cuts and with an average of 3 minutes per cut, it was well over 10 hours on the saw.
I have added close ups of the waterline and the muzzle. (Those whiskers alone were over 2 hours of cutting.)
In my collection is a second rendering of this image in a cedar frame without glass. The other image is more organic, if a less polished look is what you desire.
As with all my work, I used my scroll saw in the construction of the art, no computer guided tools.
This cutting is based on an image from C. Dearing. I have the full permission to create this art from the image.
Estimated price in as of January 2023 is $225, estimated delivery is eight weeks.
