This soaring eagle is maple inlay into walnut. Early on in my career as a cutter, I found I needed to differentiate my work from others. My fretwork (tiny cuts in the wood) is as good as the best, but there are many fine cutters. So I turned to improbable inlay. This inlay cut alone is 45 to 60 minutes of focused handwork with zero tolerance for error. When pieces like this are executed, my artist buddies love the image and my woodworking buddies are blown away by my technique.
When I look at this piece, I think of the carved eagles I have seen over the doorways at historical sites in Boston and Philadelphia.

This cutting is an image from White Tail Design. I have full permission to duplicate it.

This image is cut from 1/4 inch maple and walnut boards.
